Alan Kelley, Mascot & Genuinely Nice Guy

Alan Kelley has returned to the East Coast after fifteen years in the Midwest, where he partnered/developed several highly successful and critically acclaimed boutique restaurant groups.

Kelley has worked in restaurants since he was in high school. A graduate of Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio, Kelley began his restaurant entrepreneurial career while still in college. While a bartender at 55 at The Crosswoods, Kelley became part of a team that eventually went on to open seven other restaurants.

Kelley then worked with a group of chefs and restaurant managers from that team to conceive a new restaurant in Columbus, Cameron’s Contemporary American Cuisine. This became the originating establishment in the highly successful restaurant group Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. Kelley was promoted to General Manager/Partner from Bar Manager, and eventually helped to open several more restaurants for the consortium.

Kelley then moved on to manage/partner a boutique restaurant group that developed three successful restaurants in the Columbus area: an American eatery, an Italian restaurant, and an Irish Pub.

Upon returning to the East Coast, Kelley began scouting the perfect locale for his first Long Island restaurant. Oscar’s of St. James opened in August of 2004 to critical acclaim and was named one of the “Stars of 2004” by the restaurant critics of Newsday.

Robert Mack, Manager & Hunter

(name translates from Inuit meaning "He Who says in 1000 words What Could be said in 5")

has honed his craft in some of the best restaurants in both upstate New York and central Ohio. His love of wine and spirits began while bartending at Jack’s Oyster House, the oldest and most respected family-run restaurant in Albany, New York. His gourmand education was refined over the next ten years, which eventually took him to The Refectory Restaurant, in Columbus, Ohio, a winner of the prestigious Wine Spectator’s Grand Award for more than 15 years.

After returning to the east coast to complete graduate school, Mack was delighted to become a part of this unique team at Oscar’s of St James. Armed with his extensive knowledge, Mack tirelessly enjoys the challenge of creating a wine program that pairs the finest quality wines with inspiring and inventive cuisine.
